Personal Branding: Why Your Network Is Your Net-Worth

Hey Guys!

Hope you liked my previous article on Personal Branding where I talk about the six short, but, important and essential ingredients for having a compelling personal brand.

Today, We will talk about an important element of a compelling Personal Brand: Networking.

They say that your network is your net-worth and it's so right! Having a group of people around you who are doing better things than you and are achieving things much larger than what you are doing inspires you to work harder & smarter. It also helps you in staying grounded since your peers are doing much more amazing things and you get the feeling that you can do so much more. You also get to understand that there are many things in the world that remain unconquered by you.

Secondly, I will talk about negativity. Weeding out the negativity from your network is extremely crucial. Just remove them. But, I know that is easier said than done. I know that you can't simply get up one morning and unfollow your ages-old friend on Instagram even though, You don't find his content inspiring. So, What do you do? You keep on opening your Instagram account and by default, You click the 'Stories' icon and keep on repeating it unless your valuable time has gone away.

So, Let's accept the fact that you can't press the 'unfollow' button to this friend. So, What do you do? Simple. You keep following them on Instagram, but, mute their posts and stories. So, In this way, You have not made them feel bad by avoiding to hit the 'unfollow' button and at the same time, You are not following their content. So, Now, You can simply follow the procedure time and time again. You can even do the same with Facebook with a little twist. When you visit someone's profile whose work inspires and motivates you, Just press the 'Priotize' their posts button. So, In this way, The next time you login on Facebook, Your feed would be flooded with posts of people whom you admire. So, Contrary to most people's expectations and experiences, now, When you will open your Facebook account, You will be inspired and motivated in a matter of few minutes of logging in on the platform.

So, What say, Guys? Answer these questions the next time you login on any social media platform:

1. Do you feel inspired after ten minutes of browsing through your social media?

2. Do your friends inspire you to work harder and accomplish more?

3. Do your people on whom you can fall on to if you go bankrupt tomorrow?

If YES! Then, You are having a great group of friends and network and before you go, I will leave this with you quote: "You are the average of five people whom you hang out with"
